Some banks experienced issues with double withdrawals for Direct Debit last weekend. As far as we know, these extra payments have mostly been refunded by the banks. The challenge is that we at Cornerstone have only received information about the first two payments. Information about the refunds has not been sent to us, resulting in many donors being listed with an extra donation in Cornerstone.

We are awaiting feedback from the banks on how they plan to resolve this. Ideally, we should receive information about the refunds in the payment files so that we can automatically register, for example, a correction donation.

The problems were caused by an error at TietoEvry, which provides services to, among others, Sparebank1. Although it is mainly Sparebank banks that have performed double withdrawals, this will also affect the banks of our customers (e.g., DnB, Nordea, etc.) as they are responsible for sending us the payment files.

In the meantime, we are now displaying a warning in the window when you generate the invoice journal, encouraging you to wait before recording the journal. This is to avoid discrepancies when reconciling accounts and ledgers.
